Identity Theft Warning Signs

Be aware of the following signs of identity theft:

  • Denial of credit for no apparent reason.
  • Fraudulent charges on your credit or debit card statement.
  • Credit card or financial statements don't arrive.
  • Bills arrive for goods or services you didn't request, or accounts you did not open.
  • Suspicious inquiries or accounts on your credit report.
  • Phone calls from creditors for debts you do not owe.
  • Checks missing from your checkbook.
  • Phone calls from your credit card or financial institution's security department asking about purchases you did not make.
  • Your debit/credit card is rejected by a merchant.

Report any of these signs immediately. The quicker you act, the more protected you will be.
