The State Quarters have been released since 1999, with a new quarter and a new state every 10 weeks. Michigan was released at the beginning of 2004!

DELAWARE QUARTER COLLECTION

Delaware became the 1st state to enter the union on December 7, 1787. The Delaware quarter design depicts Caesar Rodney on horseback and honors him for his historic ride to break the tie among Delaware's delegates in favor of the Declaration of Independence.  

PENNSYLVANIA QUARTER COLLECTION

Pennsylvania became the 2nd state to enter the union on December 12, 1787. The Pennsylvania Quarter features a "Commonwealth," the statue which is atop the Pennsylvania capital dome, an outline of the state, the state motto and a keystone.  

NEW JERSEY QUARTER COLLECTION

New Jersey became the 3rd state to enter the union on December 18, 1787. This quarter is a rendering of George Washington crossing the Delaware River on his way to victories against the British at the battles of Trenton and Princeton.  

GEORGIA QUARTER COLLECTION

Georgia became the 4th state to enter the union on January 2, 1788. This quarter design prominently features a Peach, a fruit long associated with the state, within the confines of a silhouette outline of the state, bordered in live oak sprigs, symbolic of the state tree. Draped across the top of the design is a banner bearing the state motto, "Wisdom, Justice, Moderation."  

CONNECTICUT QUARTER COLLECTION

Connecticut became the 5th state to enter the union on January 9, 1788.  

MASSACHUSETTS QUARTER COLLECTION

Massachusetts became the 6th state to enter the union on February 6, 1788. The Massachusetts quarter was the first quarter of the new millennium. It features a design of "The Minuteman," a famous statue that stands guard at The Minuteman National Historical Park in Concord, Massachusetts. The Minutemen played a big role in protecting our nation, as they rallied together to help defeat the British during the Revolutionary War. These small, influential forces consisting of regular farmers and colonists, were always at-the-ready and were trained to assemble and fight on just a minute's notice-hence the term 'minutemen'.  

MARYLAND QUARTER COLLECTION

Maryland became the 7th state to enter the union on April 28, 1788. Through this new quarter, the 7th state shares its pride for the honored Maryland State House, the country's largest wooden dome built without nails.  

SOUTH CAROLINA QUARTER COLLECTION

South Carolina became the 8th state to enter the union on May 23, 1788. This coin features a design of The Carolina Wren, the state bird, the Yellow Jessamine, the state flower and the state tree, the "Palmetto." The importance of the Palmetto Tree dates back to the Revolutionary War. In 1776, colonists in a small fort built of Palmetto logs successfully defeated a British fleet trying to capture Charleston Harbor. Since then, South Carolina has been called, "The Palmetto State."  

NEW HAMPSHIRE QUARTER COLLECTION

The New Hampshire quarter is the only two-headed quarter ever produced by the U.S. Mint! The New Hampshire quarter honors one of the state's most unique natural attractions, "The Old Man of the Mountain," a rock formation found on Mt. Cannon in the Franconia Notch gateway to Northern New Hampshire. From the right view, this unique rock formation, that measures over 40 feet high with a lateral distance of 25 feet, depicts the distinct profile of an elderly man gazing eastward. This coin also highlights the state motto, "Live free or die," and nine stars, representing New Hampshire being the ninth state to ratify the Constitution.  

VIRGINIA QUARTER COLLECTION

Virginia became the 10th state to enter the union on June 25, 1788. The Virginia quarter design features three ships, Susan Constant, Godspeed, and Discovery that brought the first English settlers to Jamestown, our nation's oldest colony, that will celebrate its 400th birthday in 2007.  

NEW YORK QUARTER COLLECTION

New York became the 11th state to enter the union on June 26, 1788. On the reverse side of this coin, you will find the Statue of Liberty superimposed over an outline of the state along with the inscription "Gateway to Freedom." Also incorporated into the state outline is a line tracing the Hudson River and the route of the Erie Canal. This coin celebrates the "Empire State" as a point of entry for millions of immigrants seeking the political freedom and democracy that American citizenship provides.  

NORTH CAROLINA QUARTER COLLECTION

The North Carolina quarter commemorates the historic feat that took place on December 17, 1903, at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina when Orville Wright piloted the first successful flight of a heavier-than-air, self-propelled flying machine. The craft, called the Flyer, traveled a distance of approximately 37 meters (120 feet) on its first flight and soared even further as one of the most significant human achievements in history.  

RHODE ISLAND QUARTER COLLECTION

The third quarter issued in 2001 features a vintage sailboat gliding through Rhode Island's famous Narragansett Bay, and an image of the Pell Bridge in the background, with the design showcasing Rhode Island's most popular sport, sailing. Although Rhode Island is the smallest state in the nation, it has more than 400 miles of coastline with more than 100 fresh water and salt water beaches. It is known as the "sailing capital" of the world and was home to the World Cup for more than 50 years.  

VERMONT QUARTER COLLECTION

Vermont, the "Green Mountain State," was the first state admitted to the Union after the original 13 colonies. This quarter features Camel's Hump Mountain with an image of maple trees being tapped for sugar in the forefront. Vermont is most famous for its skiing and the production of maple sugar and syrup.  

KENTUCKY QUARTER COLLECTION

Kentucky was the first state on the western frontier to join the Union and is one of four states to call itself a "commonwealth." Kentucky is home of the longest running annual horse race in the country, the Kentucky Derby. The Kentucky quarter exhibits a stately mansion on Federal Hill with an inscription that reads, "My Old Kentucky Home." A thoroughbred racehorse is positioned behind a fence in the foreground of the quarter.  

TENNESSEE QUARTER COLLECTION

The Tennessee quarter celebrates the state's contributions to our nation's musical heritage. The design incorporates musical instruments and a score with the inscription "Musical Heritage." Three stars represent Tennessee's three regions and the instruments symbolize each region's distinct musical style. The fiddle represents the Appalachian music of east Tennessee, the trumpet stands for the blues of west Tennessee for which Memphis is famous, and the guitar is for central Tennessee, home to Nashville, the capital of country music.  

OHIO QUARTER COLLECTION

Ohio became the 17th state to enter the union on March 1, 1803. The reverse side of this coin honors Ohio's contribution to the history of aviation, depicting an early aircraft and an astronaut, superimposed as a group on the outline of the state.  

LOUISIANA QUARTER COLLECTION

The Louisiana quarter displays the image of their state bird - the pelican, a horn with musical notes, and the outline of the Louisiana Purchase territory, along with the inscription "Louisiana Purchase." Thomas Jefferson bought the Louisiana Territory from Napoleon Bonaparte in 1803 for $15 million. Dubbed the "greatest real estate deal in history" the Louisiana Purchase added thirteen new states to the Union, nearly doubling its size and making it one of the largest countries in the world.  

INDIANA QUARTER COLLECTION

The Indiana quarter represents the state pride in the famous Indianapolis 500 race. The design features the image of a racecar superimposed on an outline of the state with the inscription "Crossroads of America." The design also includes 19 stars signifying Indiana as the 19th state to ratify the Constitution.

MISSISSIPPI QUARTER COLLECTION

The Mississippi quarter showcases the beauty and elegance of the state flower, combining the blossoms and leaves of two magnolias with the inscription "The Magnolia State." The magnolia, named for the French botanist Pierre Magnol, is strongly associated with the South, where the flower became enormously popular after it was introduced from Asia. This association became strong enough that Mississippi adopted it as the state flower in 1952.

ILLINOIS QUARTER COLLECTION

The Illinois quarter pays tribute to our nation's 16th President, Abraham Lincoln. The coin also depicts the outline of the state, a farm scene and the Chicago skyline. Twenty-one stars border the coin, signifying Illinois as the 21st state to be admitted into the Union on December 3, 1818.  

ALABAMA QUARTER COLLECTION

Alabama became the 22nd state to be admitted into the Union on December 14, 1819. This quarter features Alabama native Helen Keller, seated and reading in Braille. Keller's name is inscribed on the coin in both English and Braille, making this the first U.S. circulation coin to contain a Braille inscription.  

MAINE QUARTER COLLECTION

The Maine quarter design incorporates a rendition of the Pemaquid Point Lighthouse atop a granite coast and of a schooner at sea. In 1826, Congress appropriated funds to build a lighthouse at Pemaquid Point to address hazardous navigation conditions. Although the original building was replaced in 1835, and the original 10 lamps in 1856, the light is still a beacon for ships and remains one of Maine's most popular tourist attractions. The schooner resembles "Victory Chimes, " the last three-masted schooner of the Windjammer Fleet. "Victory Chimes" has become synonymous with Maine windjamming.  
 

MISSOURI STATE QUARTER COLLECTION

The Missouri State Quarter celebrates the bicentennial of the Lewis & Clark Expedition, properly known as the "Corps of Discovery." You'll also find the Gateway Arch in the background, honoring Missouri's historic role as the Gateway to the West. 

ARKANSAS QUARTER COLLECTION

Arkansas became the 25th state to enter the union on June 15, 1836. The Arkansas State Quarter was the fifth and final State Quarter of 2003. It features a diamond in the center surrounded by scenes of the natural beauty of "The Natural State." Arkansas is the only state in America where diamonds are found.

MICHIGAN QUARTER COLLECTION

The first State Quarter of 2004 was released on January 26, 2004. 2004 was the 167th anniversary of Michigan's entry into the union.

The Michigan State Quarter highlights the unique shape of the "Great Lakes State." It also features the outlines of all five Great Lakes. Michigan is the only state to border four of the five Great Lakes. 

FLORIDA QUARTER COLLECTION

The second State Quarter of 2004 celebrates Florida as the "Gateway to Discovery" from the days of the Spanish Galleons to the Space Shuttle. 

TEXAS QUARTER COLLECTION

The third State Quarter of 2004 celebrates the Lone Star State, with a single star superimposed over a topographic map of the state. A rope lariat border completes the design.

IOWA QUARTER COLLECTION

The Iowa State Quarter is based on the painting Arbor Day by Iowa native Grant Wood. It features students from a one-room school planting a tree with their teacher. "Foundation In Education" is the theme of this quarter, which honors Iowa's commitment to education and to the future of its students and teachers.

WISCONSIN QUARTER COLLECTION

The Wisconsin State Quarter is the first State Quarter with an agricultural theme, with a cow, a wheel of cheese from "America's Dairyland" and an ear of corn. The state's motto, "Forward," completes the design.

CALIFORNIA QUARTER COLLECTION

The California State Quarter honors the man voted “The Greatest Californian” in 1976. Naturalist and writer John Muir is considered by many to be the father of America’s conservation movement. His writings helped inspire the creation of our National Park System, and he founded the Sierra Club. He stands before Half Dome in Yosemite National Park,with a California condor soaring overhead.

MINNESOTA QUARTER COLLECTION

The second State Quarter of 2005 celebrates the natural beauty, and one of the favorite pastimes, of the "Land of 10,000 Lakes." Two fishermen share their lake with Minnesota's state bird, the common loon.

OREGON QUARTER COLLECTION

The Oregon State Quarter highlights one of Oregon's natural wonders, Crater Lake. Created more than 7,000 years ago by a volcanic eruption, this crystal blue landmark is famed for the purity of its water and beauty of its surroundings. That's Wizard Island in the center.

KANSAS QUARTER COLLECTION

The fourth State Quarter of 2005 is the first to feature a state animal and state flower together in one design. Kansas is represented by the buffalo and the sunflower.

WEST VIRGINIA QUARTER COLLECTION

The final State Quarter of 2005 features what was, for many years, the largest single-span bridge in the world, New River Gorge Bridge. Every year, a festival is held on this West Virginia landmark, with paragliders, rappelers and other extreme athletes finding interesting ways to get to the bottom of the New River Gorge from the top of the span. The gorge is so deep that you could stand the Washington Monument on top of the Statue of Liberty and still not quite reach the bridge!

NEVADA QUARTER COLLECTION

The first state quarter of 2006 features a design based on the theme "Morning in Nevada." Three wild horses gallop in front of a backdrop of snow-capped mountains, representing the Sierra Nevada, the "snow-capped mountains" which give the state its name. Behind them, the sun rises majestically, welcoming a new day. Two twigs of sagebrush, the state flower, and a banner emblazoned with the state nickname, "The Silver State," complete the tableau.

Nebraska

NEBRASKA QUARTER COLLECTION

The second commemorative quarter-dollar coin released in 2006 honors Nebraska, and is the 37th coin in the United States Mint's 50 State Quarters® Program. Nebraska, nicknamed the "Cornhusker State," was admitted into the Union on March 1, 1867, becoming our Nation's 37th state. Nebraska's quarter depicts an ox-drawn covered wagon carrying pioneers in the foreground and Chimney Rock, the natural wonder that rises from the valley of North Platte River, measuring 445 feet from base to tip. The sun is in full view behind the wagon. The coin also bears the inscriptions "Nebraska," "Chimney Rock" and "1867."

Colorado

COLORADO QUARTER COLLECTION

The third commemorative quarter released in 2006 honors Colorado, and is the 38th coin in the United States Mint's 50 State Quarters® Program. The Colorado quarter depicts a sweeping view of the state's rugged Rocky Mountains with evergreen trees and a banner carrying the inscription "Colorful Colorado."

North Dakota

NORTH DAKOTA QUARTER COLLECTION

The fourth State Quarter of 2006 captures a moment in time on North Dakota's Badlands. Two bison graze in the tallgrass prairie with the dramatic buttes and valleys of Badlands behind them.

South Dakota

SOUTH DAKOTA QUARTER COLLECTION

The fifth and final State Quarter of 2006 celebrates the most notable landmark of the "Mount Rushmore State." A Chinese Ring-Necked Pheasant, the state bird, flies overhead.

MONTANA QUARTER COLLECTION

Montana is the first State Quarter of 2007, and the 41st state to enter the Union. It's nicknamed "Big Sky Country." The reverse of Montana's quarter features a bison skull depicted above the diverse Montana landscape with the inscription "Big Sky Country." The coin also bears the inscriptions "Montana" and "1889."

WASHINGTON QUARTER COLLECTION

Washington is the second State Quarter of 2007, and the 42nd state to enter the Union. It's nicknamed the "Evergreen State." The reverse of Washington's quarter features a king salmon breaching the water in front of majestic Mount Rainier. The coin bears the inscriptions "The Evergreen State," "Washington" and "1889."

IDAHO QUARTER COLLECTION

Idaho is the third State Quarter of 2007, and the 43rd state to enter the Union. It's nicknamed the "Gem State." The reverse of Idaho's quarter features the Peregrine Falcon imposing its presence above an outline of the State of Idaho. The coin bears the inscriptions "Esto Perpetua" (the State motto which means, "May it be Forever"), "Idaho" and "1890."

WYOMING QUARTER COLLECTION

The fourth State Quarter of 2007 celebrates Wyoming, the 44th state to enter the Union. It's nicknamed the "Equality State." The reverse of Wyoming's quarter features a bucking horse and rider with the inscriptions "The Equality State," "Wyoming" and "1890." The bucking horse and rider symbolize Wyoming's Wild West heritage.

UTAH QUARTER COLLECTION

Utah is the fifth and final State Quarter of 2007, and the 45th state to enter the Union. It's nicknamed The Beehive State. The reverse of Utah's quarter features two locomotives moving toward the golden spike that joined the Central Pacific and Union Pacific railroads, linking East to West and transforming both the Utah Territory and the Nation with the inscription "Crossroads of the West."

OKLAHOMA QUARTER COLLECTION

Oklahoma is the first State Quarter of 2008, and the 46th state to enter the Union. The Oklahoma State Quarter features several Indian blanket blooms in the foreground, backed by a field of similar wildflowers. Above the field is the Oklahoma state bird, the scissortail flycatcher, in flight with tail feathers spread. The coin also bears the inscriptions "Oklahoma" and "2008."

NEW MEXICO QUARTER COLLECTION

New Mexico is the second State Quarter of 2008, and the 47th state to enter the Union. A graphic map of New Mexico details its peaks, valleys and river systems. Over the map is a Zia sun sign, a circle with four points radiating from it in four directions, representing prosperity and happiness. New Mexico's nickname, The Land of Enchantment, is prominently displayed below the state.

ARIZONA QUARTER COLLECTION

Arizona is the third State Quarter of 2008, and the 48th state to enter the Union. The Arizona State Quarter proudly displays one of the Seven Wonders of the World, the Grand Canyon. Cutting over a mile deep into the earth, with the Colorado River winding at the base, the Grand Canyon leaves visitors awed at its splendor. The Arizona State Quarter also prominently displays a saguaro cactus, which blooms the state flower, on a desert foreground. 

ALASKA QUARTER COLLECTION

Alaska is the fourth State Quarter of 2008, and the 49th state to enter the Union. The Alaska State Quarter proudly displays awe-inspiring depictions of both Alaska and the grizzly. The magnificent animal is emerging from the river clutching a salmon in its great jaws. Behind the beast, a rushing waterfall and a mighty pine tree is seen. To the right of the bear is the inscription "The Great Land." 

HAWAII QUARTER COLLECTION

Hawaii is the fiftieth and final State Quarter of 2008, and the 50th state to enter the Union. The Hawaiian State Quarter shows the proud King Kamehameha I with his hand outstretched towards a depiction of the eight main islands of Hawaii. The inscription of the state motto, "The Life of the Land is Perpetuated in Righteousness," is in Hawaiian. The design is representative of the unique geography of Hawaii, the diversity of the people and their exceptional culture.
