Help us Stuff the Bus with Garber Chevrolet August 07, 2020
For the fifth year in a row, our friends at Garber Chevrolet in Midland will be hosting a Stuff the Bus donation drive to benefit early childhood programs throughout Midland County.
Stuff the Bus supports Midland County’s Great Start Readiness Program, Head Start and Early Childhood Special Education – programs offered by the Midland County Educational Service Agency in collaboration with many early childhood partners in Midland, Sanford, Coleman and Bullock Creek. In all, 30 classrooms in seven locations, as well as three different food pantries, will benefit from the donation drive.
As we have each year, DCECU is making a contribution to Stuff the Bus. And once again this year, we invite our members to be a part of the community giving!
The Stuff the Bus event will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, August 21, at Garber Chevrolet, 1700 N. Saginaw Rd. in Midland. In the interest of social distancing, donations can be dropped off any time during the dealership’s sales hours prior to August 21.
For 2020, donations of gift cards, as well as monetary donations, are preferred due to concerns related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Gift cards most needed include those for:
- Grocery stores
- Retailers that sell school/classroom supplies
- Gas stations (fuel-only cards, not merchandise cards)
While gift cards and monetary donations are preferable and will be used to purchase necessities for families and classrooms, school supply donations also are appreciated. Items most needed are:
- Computer paper
- Wide-rule spiral notebooks
- Kids’ scissors (left- and right-handed)
- Glue sticks
- Colored pencils
- Dry-erase markers
- Craft materials
Thank you for being a part of this important event to benefit kids in our community!
